Our Executive Staff
Rabbi Amiram Markel – Kosher Administrator
The scion of an illustrious lineage of spiritual and Torah giants, Rabbi Markel is the highly esteemed author of many books on Jewish mysticism and philosophy, such as, The Knowledge of God, The Gate of Unity and The Beginning of Wisdom, as well as Jewish theology, such as, The Principles of Religion. He is especially known for his highly acclaimed book, Going Kosher; a brilliant and scholarly work on the laws of kosher observance. This book firmly establishes him as a leading expert on the subject of kosher laws. In addition, after almost a quarter of a century of involvement in almost every aspect of the kosher food industry, Rabbi Markel is a greatly respected authority who is called on to answer sticky and difficult questions of kosher law whenever they arise. Besides his position as Kosher Administrator of KCA-Kosher, Rabbi Markel is also the chief executive rabbi of the Kosher Council of Ventura County and Conejo Valley; a rabbinical organization, consisting of many local Jewish centers and synagogues, that provides kosher supervision for Jewish communities in southern California. Moreover, as founder and president of the non-profit organization, Torah True Judaism Inc; Rabbi Markel has been instrumental in providing charitable and social services for the community at large.
Moshe Avila – Regional Director for Latin America
We are proud to have Moshe Avila as a key member of our executive staff at KCA-Kosher. With almost 30 years of practical experience, both in Latin America and the USA, Mexican born Moshe Avila, speaks several languages fluently and is a highly qualified professional in all aspects of the kosher food industry. As a highly sought after expert he has been instrumental in servicing such corporations as Bimbo Bakeries Inc., the largest baking conglomerate in the world and Gallo Wines Inc., the world’s largest wine producer, as well as Delta Airlines and El Al Airlines. In addition, Moshe Avila has supervised many kosher slaughterhouses, restaurants, caterers, bakeries and production plants. With his affable, but confident manner, Moshe Avila commands the trust and respect of all who have the opportunity of working with him.
Yaakov Yosef Markel – Kosher Coordinator
With 13 years of experience, Yaakov Yosef Markel has “literally” grown up in the kosher food industry under the tutelage and guidance of his father, Rabbi Amiram Markel. Though he is outstanding in all aspects of the industry, his specific area of expertise is in the field of specialized alternative whole and organic foods. In this capacity, he has supervised for such diverse companies as Vitapact Citrus Products, Perricone’s Natural Fruit Juices, Sea Silver Inc., Herbland Natural Herbs and Vitamins, Nude Foods Raw Vegan Cheese Cakes and Braggs Live Foods Inc. In addition he has supervised the production of kosher milk and grape juices and overseen private labeling production for such companies as Smart & Final and Trader Joe’s. Yaakov Yosef Markel is a master of organization and coordination, thus assuring that the kosher supervision of your products will be executed with the highest degree of efficiency and professionalism.
Rabbi Avraham Yarmush – Regional Director
An ordained rabbi specializing in the field of “Kosher Laws”, Rabbi Avraham Yarmush is a native of the Crown Heights district of Brooklyn, New York, the world headquarters of the Chabad Chassidic movement. As said above, with over 4,000 institutions worldwide, Chabad is a global juggernaut that dwarfs all other Jewish organizations combined. As a Chabad emissary, Rabbi Yarmush has supervised kosher food production in such far flung locations as far eastern Asia, as well as in the USA and has accumulated over 3 years of experience and expertise in many aspects of the kosher food industry.
